ALL IN THE DETAILS: So Plaid

We saw it all over the runways at New York Fashion Week. From Coach to Marc Jacobs to Alexander Wang, everyone was rocking plaid in their fall 2015 shows. It is the perfect go-to print, so it makes sense that it will be filling our closets once again come September. We have to get one thing straight though—the flannel will always be a staple.

This Fashionista knew exactly what she was doing when she tied that knot around her waist. The combination of the plaid flannel and ripped jeans makes for a grunge effect in her look. She balanced the black top and high heeled booties by adding the light denim and gray vest. The lightweight vest adds an extra layer to the look without the bulk (score). She can easily put the flannel on if she gets chilly, which makes it perfect for a long day of classes. Plaid shirts are so effortless and are a piece everyone should have in their closet. My favorite is this Rails top in cadet blue. I also love this one by Wayf and this black and white one from Forever 21.

How To: Plaid can be so versatile and can really be worn in any season. If you are going for a flannel like this Fashionista did, pick a super soft one in your favorite color and tie it around your waist. Maybe throw it on over a T-shirt and boyfriend jeans or slip dress and booties. Want to try something a little more edgy? Rock a pair of plaid pants or a plaid mini skirt with your favorite graphic T-shirt to really make a statement. Voilà!
