ALL IN THE DETAILS: Simplicity is Bliss

Accessorizing appropriately is a skill that any fashion enthusiast would like to master. It can be hard when there are so many cool trends out such as hats, sunglasses and jewelry. This Fashionista does a RAD job of incorporating a variety of accessories into her outfit. How does she do it? She chooses a simple outfit and layers some of her favorite pieces to spice up the look—thus spicing up her life (sorry for the Spice Girls reference).

This particular look involves a variety of different accessories. From head to toe, she rocks sunglasses, a choker, an anklet and a cool pair of sneakers. Sunglasses are a classic, they are the perfect accessory for taking your outfit up a notch. Not only do they protect your eyes, but nowadays they come in a variety of styles that can make a simple look super posh (another Spice Girls reference).

Another accessory that is on trend this season is the choker. I have seen tons of chokers all over the city of Toronto. People are actually getting very creative with this trend by using ribbons, elastics and other materials to recreate this classic ’60s trend. This Fashionista chose two simple black chokers, one leather and one felt.

The final accessories that she uses to style up her simple black dress are a classic pair of sneakers and a beaded anklet. There are many hippie ’60s trends that are resurfacing and anklets are definitely part of the revival. These beaded anklets are simple and can be bought for cheap or even made by hand if you’re feeling crafty enough. In her all black outfit, the beaded anklet is subtle and cute. To cap off the look, she continues with the all black trend by sporting a pair of slip-on Vans.

This look is very simple as she has mastered the concept of wearing a lot of accessories, but not in an overwhelming way.

How To: Do you want to be an accessory master? To recreate this look, start off with a simple base similar to this Fashionista’s black dress. Then work your way around that simple piece by choosing a few accessories in neutral shades and one accessory that pops.
