ALL IN THE DETAILS: Not-So-Typical T-Shirt

Hey Fashionistas! I hope you all have been enjoying these last few weeks of summer. During this time of year, we have gotten as much use as we can out of the cute clothes we have been showing off all summer and are now running low on outfit ideas. I don’t know about you, but I am most definitely having a difficult time finding something to wear that I haven’t already worn before. In order to avoid a Fashionista’s worst fear, which is the accusation of being an outfit repeater, this week I am helping you jazz up your plain, old T-shirts into something completely new! So, grab your favorite T-shirt and let’s get started.

T-shirts have always had the connotation of being extremely casual. However, in order to unlock the full potential of the T-shirt, it is important to utilize your entire accessories closet. Since T-shirts are so plain, you can pair the most crazy, intricate jewelry you have with them to make a look that is pulled together and presentable. Color scheme is important, so whatever colors you choose to bring to a colorless, monotone T-shirt, it is important to ensure that you are not overdoing it. As long as all the tones match and the accessories are not overdone, the T-shirt can be jazzed up to achieve a flattering ensemble.

This Fashionista did an excellent job of doing so, pairing her basic striped T-shirt dress with a statement necklace with hints of turquoise. To match the hardware of the necklace, she accessorized her hands with some gold rings and a funky hand piece. Lastly, she wore some simple gold and black strappy sandals on her feet and a zippered cross-body bag.

I hope this all helped you fellow Fashionistas avoid repeating outfits as we approach the end of this sunny season. Good luck, and I will see you all next week!

How To: Pair your favorite T-shirt dress with some statement pieces such as a bold, colorful necklace or a sunhat. Throw on some sunnies and a pair of sandals and you are ready for a casual, comfortable day around town.
