ALL IN THE DETAILS: Lady in Blue

July 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

A common misconception is that mixing different shades of the same color does not look good. Mixing different hues actually can cause the outfit to look exceptionally unique, and the uniqueness of an outfit is what creates a person’s own style. No Fashionista/o should ever be afraid of color!

There are a variety of details that complete this ensemble. The different shades of blue are what primarily attracted me to this outfit. The dark shade of blue contrasting with the lighter shade allowed for both the skirt and the shoes to equally, yet independently, stand out; ultimately, causing the whole outfit to look fashionably cohesive. If the brilliant blue color was not enough, the small geometric cutouts in the heels were another unique detail of this Fashionista’s look that caught some attention. To top it all off, the black hat with the cute bow is the final detail that ‘seals the deal’ on this chic outfit.

Grabbing a coffee with a friend, a date with a new guy, lunch with the parents… you name it! The casual, yet chicness of this look allows for the versatility the freedom to wear this almost anywhere. There are so many happening events in the summer and this outfit will have you ready for any of them.

How To: A camisole or even a tank top would work with this outfit, preferably in white or black. The skirt and the shoes should be the same color, but different shades. The top and skirt can be different shades of the same color if that is preferred, however, the shoes would have to be a neutral color such as black or gray. Make sure there are only two items of the same color in the outfit— you don’t want to overdo it!
