ALL IN THE DETAILS: La Dolce Vita

Today I’m reporting from Milan, one of the fashion capitals of the world—and also the capital of pizza and wine. When visiting, my friend and I decided it was time to step up our style game. The key to this trendy look is the floppy hat. This Fashionista’s hat adds the right touch of sophistication and flair to her stylish look.

The floppy hat has been a trend for a while now. Floppy hats are surprisingly wearable, especially when in a fashion-forward city like Milan. They add a cool, ’70s vibe to your look. Aside from being stylish, floppy hats are also practical. They block the sunny spring rays and even hide a bad hair day in a pinch. This hat was purchased at the H&M in Florence, so it’s super affordable too.

This Fashionista’s trendy hat completes her chic look. A leopard-print silk top and fur vest are very of the moment. Leopard, when done in a muted gray is quite versatile. The gray fur vest adds a luxe touch. Black skinny jeans and black booties complete the trendy, urban-chic vibe of this outfit.

The key to this look is that everything is in a neutral palette. Prints, fur and an oversized hat could easily be too much if they were in bold colors. However, the soft grays and blacks tone down the look. This Fashionista proves that neutrals are anything but boring.

How To: Choose an oversized felt hat in a neutral shade, such as black for a more wearable look. When wearing all neutrals, play with different textures and patterns to keep things interesting. When trying a lot of trends at once, make sure to incorporate some classic pieces into your outfit, such as black skinny jeans and ankle boots. Don’t be afraid to try a new trend. The results are well worth the risk.
