ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hats

With the amazing California sunshine, I always forget to wear my sunglasses to class. It is always a hassle for me to hold my hand up against the sun to protect my eyes when I choose to hold my books instead of using a backpack for the day. Luckily, I caught this Fashionista who inspired me to wear hats for the upcoming weather as the temperature warms up. Not to mention, hats will be a great accessory for Coachella coming up next month in the Palm Springs desert.

This Fashionista integrated her hat graciously to her outfit. She wore a white camisole with a black bandeau underneath, black denim skinny jeans, brown boots, a Pepperdine lanyard, a simple ring, beige knitted cardigan and her black hat. Her outfit was simple so that it the focus could be on the hat. There were no graphics or sequins to distract from the outfit and bring the attention to other pieces of clothing. Her cardigan brought a relaxed look. It was paired well with her brown boots and her Pepperdine lanyard that showed her school spirit. Her simple red ring added quality as well. Overall, the item that stood out the most from her ensemble was her hat. It did not look too big for her body frame and it showed that she tried to accessorize and use an item other than jewelry to make a cohesive outfit. Here is a hat that can be easily incorporated into a school day’s outfit.

How To: Pair a simple outfit such as a white V-neck T-shirt and jeans or a spring dress with a hat. The simplicity of the outfit will bring attention to the hat, and not wearing other accessories will bring even more emphasis to the hat. If you want to add a few accessories, a watch or a ring will do. Have fun with your outfit and be creative.
