ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hats Off To This Trend

Who said hats were only good for personal sun shade or a bad hair day? The hat has evolved as one of the most noticeable fashion items that anyone can wear. They are manufactured in many different styles, shapes, colors and patterns to give that little extra detail to your outfit.

I spotted this Fashionista at the most common place other Fashionistas/os seek help in their fashion endeavors: the mall. Claudia had been assisting me in the pursuit of an outfit for an upcoming festival when I began to admire the same style floppy felt hat I had been trying to get myself to buy for months now. The floppy hat has been on-trend since last fall, alongside our beloved fedora and baseball cap. Big floppy felt hats are sure to either keep you warm or provide sun shade in the different seasons. But more importantly, they add major drama to any look.

Here our Fashionista had a casual punk inspired outfit. She created her outfit with denim jeans, a comfy graphic T-shirt, sneakers, a gold watch and a faux leather biker jacket. Without her floppy felt hat this outfit could be perfect for hanging out with friends or a casual date night. By adding the floppy felt hat she was able to dress up the outfit and even made it work appropriate.

The floppy felt has also been a hot festival accessory this season. It has made its fashion premier time and time again at festivals like Coachella and Hangout Music Festival. The floppy felt hat began to channel our inner Brigitte Bardot last fall, and I have a feeling it will continue to be that staple accessory in our wardrobe that brings a touch of ’70s glamour.

How To: Have you been hesitant to rock a floppy felt hat? It works perfectly with any casual outfit or dress, making it look like you’re dressed up but relaxed at the same time. You can match the color of your hat to your top or pants or just make it a great accent color to the rest of your outfit. You can’t go wrong with black, tan or red floppy hats.
