ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hats Off To Prints

It’s the beginning of a new semester and of course we all want to put our most fashionable foot forward. However, with the temperatures in Colorado still ranging from chilly to frigid, it can be difficult to follow through on your initial determination. Heavy snow tends to inspire less-than-rad fashion choices among the students shuffling from building to building. This Fashionista’s trick for overcoming the slump is to incorporate eye catching prints for maximum wow factor with little effort.

The main piece in this ensemble is a great peacoat. It provides ample warmth, while still adding effortless style. More details are revealed as you get closer to this Fashionista. The toggle closures and plaid patterned lining are the perfect nod to the holiday season, while the clean lines and military inspired design fit in perfectly with the coming trends (Uh, hello wonderful Rebecca Minkoff pre-fall 2015 mini collection).

Our Fashionista’s next move was to balance edgy chic and classic elegance with her remaining accessories. The bold prints were carried through with a pair of leopard print, bow gloves. She kept the rest of her ensemble relatively simple with a black beanie and black ankle boots with stud detailing. While our Fashionista chose a pair of sheer black tights, I would recommend something with a little more substance, such as fleece-lined leggings for added warmth.

Most people find one trend they love and they stick to it. However, this Fashionista is the perfect example of how you can blend multiple timeless trends into one look. Mix things up with your winter look and don’t let the weather stifle your rad style.

How To: To nail this winter look, you need to let your accessories do the talking. Try a classic olive green peacoat paired with some leggings for your base and layer bold accessories to elevate your entire outfit. Channel this Fashionista’s cool girl vibe with these leopard gloves, a black beanie and a pair of studded ankle boots.
