This summer has flown by in a veritable blur of heat and work! In less than two weeks, college students will be back up at school with classes, clubs and friends. Fortunately, even though summer is essentially over, the fashion at SUNY New Paltz is still coming in hot.
This Fashionista was wearing a beautiful green A-line dress, sandals and a denim jacket. Unlike a bodycon dress, an A-line dress is easy to maneuver. Seafoam green is perfect for summer days because it’s a beautiful color that welcomes light and fun. Her nude sandals are comfortable, easy to walk in and elongate her legs. The Fashionista’s denim jacket keeps her outfit casual and gives her outfit some edge.
Her lacy dress is the standout piece of her ensemble because it’s light, fun and can be professional. The word lace befittingly has roots in Middle English and Old French; the roots extend even further back and come from a Latin word that means “to entice” or “to ensnare.” Originally made with linen and silk, lace is now most commonly made with cotton and comes in a variety of patterns.
How To: It’s time to shine in lace! First, choose a patterned mini dress that’s comfortable to wear. Forever 21 turns a lace dress on its side and provides tons of options such as cutouts and high collars. If lace is too itchy or isn’t interesting enough, crochet, surplice and sheer designs are great alternatives to lace. Lighter hues of green, pink and purple are great for day to night, but a lace black dress gives the LBD a new spin. Next, find a pair of nude sandals that match your skin tone. For accessories, be minimalistic and just wear a pair of simple studs and a small bracelet. Enjoy being ensnared in lace!
