ALL IN THE DETAILS: Give ‘Em The Boot

The snow is coming down and there’s definitely no sign of it stopping. With that, trying to find a way for you full body to sustain the warmth it needs can seem like a task. Walking through the snow can be even worse. With that, the proper boots are needed when taking on that feat. Most of the time, students and fashion majors alike try to lean toward what is deemed more stylish as opposed to practical. If you look carefully, there is definitely a boot you can wear that has both elements. Take a tip from this Fashionista who throws stylish and comfort into the mix.

While waiting to go to work, I spotted this Fashionista walking on campus. I noticed she was consistent with a color scheme in her attire, but fell in love with her boots, which stuck out against the snow and were perfect for outdoors. We both talked about our love for outdoor clothing companies like L.L.Bean and how versatile and timeless the style is. On the subject of versatility, we also agreed that the traditional fishing boot could be worn with any outfit. Whether she’s hiking to class, or going on a literal hike, her boots will be reliable enough to keep her feet warm, dry and prevent her from slipping on black ice. Keeping up the casual vibe of her outfit, she paired black leggings that coordinated nicely with the brown in her boots. When the wind is too strong, her black thermal coat is sure to keep her warm due to the soft fur lining and deep pockets to protect her hands. Adding another pop of color, this Fashionista sported with a scarf similar to Burberry’s famous Haymarket check pattern. The mix of tan, red and the subtle amount of black was the right amount of contrast against her coat and boots.

The fact of the matter is that boots may most likely be one of the most vital pieces to wear during the next few months to defend yourself from blizzards and deep snow. I’m a believer that shoes can make or break and outfit and there’s nothing wrong with wearing boots that stand out against the rest of your outfit.

How To: Have more of a feminine taste, but still want your boots to be noticed? Swap the fishing boots for a pair of ankle boots that have a unique detail on them. With this look, you’ll be able to walk comfortably in the cold while looking as edgy as possible.
