ALL IN THE DETAILS: Floral Frenzy

Summertime is here; let the warm weather begin! To me, the perfect summer day is looking out of my kitchen window and seeing all the beautiful flowers in full bloom, and the bright vivid colors of the outside world. This summer I have been binge-watching Gossip Girl (for the second time) and I think this trend is the perfect fit to the Fashionistas/os themselves, the Upper East Side elites. The best friend duo, Blair and Serena, are the epitome of the fashion world. Even B and S have days where they are sporting their best floral patterns. Chuck Bass is even found wearing a flower on his suit jacket here and there. Let’s be real, we all want to feel as if we are in the life of an Upper East Sider.

There are many reasons why even guys and us gals want to be wearing floral prints. It brings out a cute boho hippie feel, while adding a feminine touch. Flowers are natural and feminine, what girl doesn’t want an outfit that states just that? The trends of today are all about supporting our natural selves and being comfortable in our femininity. With floral prints and patterns we can do just this. Not only can they be natural and feminine they can be edgy, chic, glamorous, romantic, sophisticated and so much more. Floral prints back in the Victorian days were a sign of elegance. In Japan it was a sign for the royal family. So it’s no wonder that we even find men wrapped up in a floral frenzy!

In this outfit she has really channeled her inner Upper East Sider. She is wearing a floral tunic from Free People with leather leggings. The leather leggings add an edgy style to this look, along with the combat boots. To me this look screams Gossip Girl, because she mixed textures and patterns, similar to what we always find Blair and Serena doing.

How To: Wanting to sport the new summer prints? Well, now you can! Any day is a great day for floral patterns, best paired with solid colors. Get your floral frenzy on!
