ALL IN THE DETAILS: Feeling Blue?

Although not too many people think about their favorite colors anymore, I’m still obsessed with mine, which has changed from purple to blue over time. When I saw this Fashionista, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her outfit and how she put together the different shades of blue in her look.

This Fashionista’s pinstriped button-down shirt is the focal point of this outfit, especially when it is tied in the front, like she has done. Her black high-waisted shorts give this outfit a more girly feel with the scallops on the bottom. What I also look for in an outfit is minimalism, and this Fashionista’s jewelry (a simple gold watch and bangle) helps steer the focus to her shirt and bag. The cross-body bag is simple, yet classy and its turquoise color does not clash with the royal blue of the stripes in her shirt. What finishes off the classy feel of this outfit are this Fashionista’s shoes; they are simple, comfortable and do not take anything away from the outfit. Instead, the shoes accentuate her look.

This Fashionista’s outfit would look best if she were headed to class or ready for a girl’s day out of exploring the city. The shirt and shorts are comfortable, but also give some sophistication. Plus, the shoes look comfortable enough to walk around in.

How To: Don’t be afraid to mix different shades of a particular color. For instance, rock a blush top with a bright pink bag. Then, complete the outfit with minimal jewelry- if any- and keep the rest of the outfit’s colors neutral so that your color palette stays in one range.
