ALL IN THE DETAILS: Falling For Fringe

Alas, the season we’ve all been waiting for—fall.  As F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” This is the time where we trade in all the neon and colorful colors that are associated with summer, for more deep earthy shades of green, orange, red and neutrals. The time where pumpkin spice lattes are being ordered and all styles of boots are coming out of storage. A trend that is coming just in time for fall and sharing the spotlight with things such as flannels, dark lipstick and boots, is fringe. This trend, if I do say so myself, deserves the time and attention that it is getting.

I think it is safe to say that the ’70s are in full swing. Fringe has been shimmying its way from the fashion runways to our closets and reminding us why we love this retro style so much. When I think of this trend, I think of how versatile it is. From handbags to maxi skirts to sweaters, this embellishment instantly adds a little fun to any outfit. However, as pleasant as this trend may be, it is important to make sure not too much is going on with the overall look, for fear of making it look like a costume (Halloween isn’t here quite yet, folks!).

If you are up to the challenge of tackling this trend, try fringe booties! This Fashionista decided to pair her gray fringe booties with light rinse high-waisted jeans. This white cut out crop top gives this outfit a feminine, yet edgy feel. Our Fashionista’s emerald green crossover handbag adds a pop of color that is perfect for fall without making the outfit too busy. She finished off her look with this statement necklace as it adds a little glitz and sparkle to her neutral ensemble.

How To: Interested in recreating this look? Allow fringe to be your focal point! Whether it is a top, skirt or shoes, let the fringe do the talking, and make sure the rest of your outfit is simple. It’s needless to say that you can wear fringe just about anywhere!
