ALL IN THE DETAILS: Experimenting With Prints

Summer will go by in a blink of an eye. It’s already mid-July, so remember to not only cherish the sunny days but to also make sure you look great doing it. Some fun and easy ways to play with your look include experimenting with colors, prints and fabrics. You may even find a new way to style that polka-dot dress in your closet that you have never thought of before. Don’t be shy!

This Fashionista incorporated lace, polka-dots and jewels into her look. Her white lace crop top has a drawstring in the front that counteracts the boxy shape of the top. The lace means the top is perforated and a bit see through. To avoid any mishaps and to create a more interesting outfit, this Fashionista layered the top over a black and white polka-dot dress. The dress has a skater style flair that adds the right amount of movement, making her petite frame seem more balanced. Additionally, the layering also creates a high-waisted effect that lengthens her legs.

She accessorized with jeweled sandals and a charm bracelet. The jewels on her sandals provide that extra glam to an otherwise ordinary pair of sandals and dresses up her entire outfit. Her shoes and bracelet are color-coordinated and provide an extra touch to her black and white outfit.

Incorporating prints and layers into any outfit is a sure way of making any ensemble seem more interesting. I love wearing black, even in the summertime, but this Fashionista convinced me to choose prints over black the next time I want to look effortlessly cool.

How To: Afraid of mixing patterns and fabrics? You can mix and match any piece of clothing by keeping the colors muted with at least one similar color.
