Summer is the time for short shorts, tank tops and sandals, but sometimes Mother Nature fails us. When the weather goes bad in the middle of July, it’s time for some crisis prevention with our outfits. The denim jacket is a staple in every Fashionista’s closet and can carry most outfits from spring to summer to fall. Plus, layers become necessary during tricky summer days when the weather is rainy, cold and warm all at once.

This Fashionista stayed warm by layering a light wash denim jacket over a mint green sweater and pairing it with a pair of black jeans. She added floral accessories to keep the outfit looking soft and girly. A simple watch with a cool pattern can make a casual outfit look classy. The weather was rainy but warm so she stayed cool by wearing strappy sandals that were a steal from Nine West. Comfortable sandals are the perfect shoes to keep a look stylish but stay comfortable for long treks to adventures or summer classes. A cross-body bag ties together the whole outfit.

Her eclectic mix of clothing and accessories makes for this Fashionista’s perfect style. “I don’t know if I really have a style inspiration. When I go out to buy clothes I don’t really have any expectations. I never know what I’ll come home with. I just try on anything that catches my eye. Sometimes I’ll ask a friend or a sales associate to pick a bunch of clothes out for me. I like to be super open-minded about what I wear and I’ll try just about anything.”

How To: Want to wear a denim jacket without feeling too hot? Search for a lightweight jacket and pair it with a short floral dress or a thin shirt and lace shorts. Don’t be afraid to wear layers in the summer to battle constantly changing weather!
