ALL IN THE DETAILS: Building Blocks

By now we’re all familiar with the term “color-blocking.” It’s been around for multiple seasons, and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon thanks to Kenzo’s menswear fall 2015 show. This Fashionisto is working the trend into his look through a light windbreaker giving a sleek take on athletic menswear.

This is a simple and minimal look that makes a statement, and it’s easy to recreate. He sticks to black and white with a subtle hint of blue in his Air Jordan 10s which doesn’t take the attention away from the main look. His use of accessories splits into two categories: streetwear and boho. His hat and sneakers keep the look together with the athletic vibe while his sunglasses and necklace suggest an added flair to the ensemble. Even as individual pieces they make great additions to any outfit.

How To: Start with a good solid base (the Fashionisto chose all black for his look) then layer with a piece like his statement jacket. I loved his choice of jacket because it practically did the work for him, and I’m all for effortless dressing that looks put together. Pair it with some sneakers, an OBEY hat, some round sunglasses and simple necklace to finish the look. And ladies, we can take a few cues from this Fashionisto, as well. Instead of his windbreaker, try this color-blocked dress paired with either white or blue leather slip-on sneakers to keep it casually cool. Top it off with a sleek baseball cap and you’re in business. What I love about this rendition for the ladies is how this outfit can transition from brunch to running errands so easily, and who doesn’t love an outfit that pulls double duty?
