ALL IN THE DETAILS: Boho-Chic

Summer is rapidly approaching and with this hot weather on the rise, the style on campus is on the rise as well. This Fashionista was seen after class rocking a straw fedora hat with a black ribbon around it. Her look screamed summer with a bohemian ease. One of the biggest trends we are seeing this summer is hats. Hats are a fun way to accessorize a look or to cover up a bad hair day. You can dress a look up with a hat or dress it down. They are so versatile and fun that they should be in every Fashionista’s closet this season.

I spotted this Fashionista on the way to dinner with friends after class and her skirt immediately caught my eye. The bold print and tie-around detail on the skirt add interest and fun elements to the look. With such a bold bottom, this Fashionista kept the rest of the look simple, adding a denim jacket. This is another key item to have in your closet, especially for those commuters out there. The straw hat was my favorite element of the look, dressing the look down. Her accessories were simple but great! She had a bright colored shoulder bag and a simplistic choker necklace.

Each element of this look combined all created a very beautiful summer look that was sure to catch eyes on campus. The great thing about this look is that it both looks great and is very comfortable and stylish. This summer, try a hat in your wardrobe, Fashionistas! Don’t be afraid to add accessories to the look. When you accessorize, you add interest and sometimes accessories become the best conversation pieces. However it is important to not over accessorize. As the great Coco Chanel said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.”

How To: Find a style of hat that best fits your style. It could be a fedora, floppy hat, ball cap or even a snapback. When you find a style that fits your personality, add it on to the look and try it out. Don’t be afraid to take risks when it comes to hats. Hats can hide a multitude of bad hair days but are still fun fashion statements. Try some denim shorts and a cropped tee, then throw on some Converse and a snapback for a more urban look using hats.
