ALL IN THE DETAILS: A Little Bit Of Fur

Thanks to the never-ending snowfall here in the northeast, I find myself in the midst of a perpetual struggle. That is to say, coming up with an outfit that is both winter appropriate and stylish is a bit of a challenge. As anyone living in an area with more than a few inches of snow knows, the line between chic Fashionista/o and bundled mess can be quite a thin one.

Luckily, this Fashionisto managed to make winter wear an attractive option. While his sturdy coat is what initially caught my eye, the fur trim on his hood really drew my attention. I don’t know about you, but I am a full supporter of (faux) fur when cooler temperatures hit. Including it as a border on a jacket is the perfect way to incorporate enough of it to make a statement without overwhelming the entire look.

I love how the fur and the coat itself are in the same color scheme. Not only does the monochromatic design look elegant, but it also makes it easy to match with other pieces. For instance, the fur enhances the neutrals in the rest of the outfit without seeming like too dramatic of a detail.

Overall, I think fur is the way to go this season, whether it be as trim on a hood, as a detail on earmuffs or as an accent onĀ gloves. It keeps you warm and looks luxe at the same time. That’s a win in my book.

How To: Worried about going overboard with fur? Aim to incorporate it in small doses. You can’t go wrong with it as a trim on coats or on winter accessories. Who knows? Eventually you may even work your way up to a fur coat!
