After I received the email late last January confirming my spot as a summer intern at CollegeFashionista, some may say it went straight to my head. In hindsight, telling my mother to โhave her people call my peopleโ after she requested I organize my perpetually bulging closet may have been a tad dramatic. But hey, you say โdramaticโ I say โecstatic.โ
My name is Dominique, but I couldnโt tell you the last time someone called me that. It was probably roughly around the same time Von Dutch hats and Juicy Couture sweatsuits were the items of the season. Most folks just call me Domchacha, Domcha or Dom and youโre more then welcome to as well.
My heart breaks to say that I am on my final summer break before entering my senior year at Rutgers University. Throughout these years, I bounced between being a Business and Communication major. However, after realizing how God-awful I am at anything remotely close to math and how God-gifted I am at never being able to stop talking or communicating, I settled into a Communication major with a focus in Public Relations.
Trying to pinpoint and explain my style is as unpredictable as trying to predict what strife will hit the Kardashian family next. It varies depending on the mood Iโm in, on which of the seasonโs trends are catching my eye and on how much Iโm feeling myself in that particular moment. However, more often than not, at least one of the items I am wearing will be from the menโs section of a store or at least considered unisex. My current โgo-toโ items are one of the 40 pairs of Vans I secretly ordered on my parentโs Amazon Prime account, a pair of white or black calf socks and a pair of mom or boyfriend jeans. Iโm a tomboy at heart, probably due to the fact that my mom didnโt buy me anything but sneakers until I was six years old.
To me, โsummer breakโ means more time to be productive without getting weighed down by homework. This summer, I will be studying abroad for the first five weeks. I am excited to bring all the style and fashion Rome has to offer to CollegeFashionista. Afterwards, I will be interning, working, blogging on my personal blog and bringing my best to all of you readers. Get pumped, stay tuned and enjoy.
As the Romans say, arrivederciโuntil next time!
