STYLE GURU BIO: Fatou Soma

Hello everyone! My name is Fatou, I am 20 and I am a finance student at the University of Ottawa in Canada, but I’m from Burkina Faso and Senegal, which are west African countries. I have always been into fashion in a way because it is in my Senegalese culture to look neat and tidy all the time. To me fashion is a form of communication because what you wear on the outside tells the world loud and clear who you are on the inside, it’s a powerful tool to inform who we are and what we can be. It’s also about dressing for your best self every day, it’s about looking and feeling great and I believe that you can find your style once it is connected to your individuality.

I will describe my style as versatile but in a simple way to not say minimalist I can go from tomboy to glamour in a minute. I give a lot of importance to my look because looking good and dressing good makes me feel better about myself and helps me a lot when it comes to self confidence. To me the first impression matters a lot and you hardly ever get a second chance to make one. Therefore I always make sure to be well-dressed.

For this look I kept it simple as always. I am wearing a white skirt with a dark blue sweater and a pair of heels, on top I have a gray coat and to add a little pop of color I choose a red shoulder bag.

I am so excited to be a part of what I know will be a good semester and I cannot wait to share awesome looks.
