STYLE GURU BIO: Julia Alt

I am so excited to be a part of this internship program.  My name is Julia Alt and I am about to start my sophomore year at the University of Delaware.  Deciding what college to go to was a big challenge for me, but I could not have made a better decision with my school. Since I was in Elementary School making fashion statements such as patterned leggings under a floral dress, I knew that I had a love for fashion.  I grew up in Long Island,  spending many weekends visiting family in Manhattan. I have always been inspired and captivated by New York City, but I knew that I wanted to spend my four years at a University in the suburbs.  As you can imagine, finding a college outside of the city that offers a fashion merchandise major was not the easiest.  I am so lucky that the University of Delaware has a popular fashion program because this college is the perfect fit for me.

My college, which is filled with thousands of people became a lot smaller when I joined a club named UDress Magazine and joined my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. The advice I have to any incoming freshman, or even sophomores who took a little bit longer time adjusting than others, is to get involved with your campus.  As a member of the public relation team on Udress magazine, I have met so many amazing people that I probably would not have gotten the chance to meet if it were not for getting involved.

I am one of those people who make you wait five minutes before you can eat your meal because I have to take a million pictures!  My ‘foodstagram’ has been running for almost two years now and I have to admit, I am on it more than my personal page!  I love traveling throughout different cities and stopping into local cafe’s to just enjoy the atmosphere.  Not being a picky eater is a blessing…and a curse because while I get to indulge in unique food, I also have to hit up the gym almost every day during the week!
