While in college, the last thing you want to do is organize and keep your dorm room clean. I will admit, in my freshman year of college I wasn’t the best at making sure my room was neat and orderly. To be fair, I had so much on my plate that organization was the least of my worries. Now that summer break is here and I have much more time on my hands, I realize just how easy it is to organize and spice up my space without spending much time or money.
—Add wall art. Bring new life to your walls by adding decorative wall art pieces. Adding art to your walls is the perfect way to express yourself and show off personal style and flare. Whether you’re hanging up an original piece you designed or picking up a few pieces from your local store, art is the best way to provide a pop of color to your room.
—Light up your space. Adding string lights to any space is my absolute favorite way to decorate. There are so many different types of string lights to choose from nowadays, and they never fail to add that warm and cozy feeling to any space. The greatest part about it is that most string lights can also be used outdoors as well! It’s a win-win situation.
—Cute pillows go a long way. I love pillows—and having way too many of them. Pillows are the perfect way to add life to any boring bed. Don’t let your bed be drab! Add some fluffy, cute, and comfortable pillows. You’ll be surprised how they can perk up your space.
—Color code your closet. How much time do you spend looking through your closet for that one T-shirt you want to wear but can’t find? I’m guilty of spending a lot of time on that. Organizing my closet by color has made it so much easier for me to find what I’m looking for quickly. The best thing about it is how simple and easy it is to do.
—Bins, bins, bins. If you’re like me and you own way too many things, I highly recommend using bins to organize and hold your items. Instead of having everything thrown on the floor, you can have all of it in one place. Using bins makes it easier for me to find things. I keep all of my hats, accessories, and bikinis all together in their own separate bins, allowing me to have everything in one place, which makes selecting one such a breeze. Most of them don’t take up much space and are compact. They also fit in places like under my bed and under my clothes in the closet.
