5 Must-Have Products for Traveling the World This Summer

July 5th, 2017 at 2:00am

Over the last three weeks, I have picked up my entire life and dropped it in the heart of London. For ten weeks, I get to live and experience one of the world’s most diverse cities as well as travel across Europe fulfilling my ever-so-present wanderlust. These are my suggestions for must-have products when you are traveling the world.

1—Water bottle. We all know that it is so important to stay hydrated, especially when you are moving around a lot. England is known for not having the best air conditioning, so having a refillable water bottle will come in handy on those boiling summer days where all you can think about is how great the cool air would feel.

2—Sun-protectant gear. Speaking of the heat, make sure you bring along some sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your beautiful skin and eyes from getting burnt. Not only is traveling with a sunburn and peeling skin not fun, it makes you uncomfortable which can prevent you from taking advantage of everything on the trip. Bringing along a pair of sunglasses will protect your eyes from any harmful rays and keep you looking cool in the summer heat. Though, you may want to leave the Tom Fords at home, as they can be easily misplaced or stolen.

3—Google Maps. This app has been a lifesaver for me. When you are in a new city, it is crucial that you know where you’re going, even if you don’t have the overseas phone plan. This app works offline. You can download maps and still use them functionally without having to be connected to Wi-Fi. It also has suggestions for public transportation which is helpful when the subway or tube can be extremely confusing. Mapping out where you need to go beforehand is the way to go as it will give you a general idea of how much time you need to get there. Give yourself extra time as transportation is often crowded or delayed. You’ll thank me later.

4—Camera. Of course, with all the traveling, you need some way to document it. But make sure you also take time off from being behind the lens to be in the moment.

5—Crossbody bag. Having a way to carry everything you need is essential. Theft is fairly common in larger cities, so store your items in a bag, and not in your back pocket, to help minimize any pickpocketing. Keep an eye out on what’s going on around you. If you ever feel uncomfortable, get out of the situation, and if necessary, contact the local authorities. Traveling is an amazing experience but your safety is your biggest concern.
