4 Summer Must-Haves For People Who Work Outside

Hello, and welcome to my first official article as a Style Guru! I am so excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista intern team this semester, blogging about all my favorite fashion, beauty, and culture trends. I cannot think of a better way to jump start this journey then to write about my four summer beauty essentials. This will be my fifth summer as a lifeguard at an outdoor pool and over the years I have picked up a few tips and tricks to keep your chlorinated hair healthy and your dry skin happy. With hot weather quickly approaching, I like to stock up on these items to keep fresh during those long summer days.

1—Maui Babe
Maui Babe tanning lotion is one of my favorite items to use in the summer. Maui Babe is the fastest way to get a deep, dark Hawaiian tan whether you’re spending two hours or twelve hours in the sun. After I use Maui Babe, I use Maui Babe After Browning Lotion to hydrate my skin and enhance my tan. Don’t be alarmed by Maui Babe’s melted chocolate texture—this stuff gets the job done.

2—Raw Coconut Oil
YES, you can use Coconut Oil for things other than cooking! After a long day at the pool coconut oil becomes my best friend. Coconut oil is good to use in the bathtub to hydrate dry skin and in your hair to soften the ends and repair breakage.

3—Sally Hansen Gel Nail Kit
As a lifeguard, I tend to spend a lot of time in the sun. I like to use Sally Hansen’s Gel Nail Kit because it keeps my nails looking pristine no matter how long they’re in the sun. The treatment takes no time to apply and my nails last for up to two weeks. This is an affordable, nail safe alternative to salon gel treatments.

4—Coil/Fabric Hair Ties
When I head home after work, the last thing I want to do is untangle a wet hair tie from my hair. I always end up pulling a chunk of my hair out in an attempt to get the hair tie free. These hair ties, however, are the perfect solution. They do not tangle in your hair or leave ponytail lines… BONUS! These hair ties will leave your hair healthier and happier.
