It’s no secret that every college student lives for his/her weekend. We work hard during the week so we can spend a mere 48 hours hanging out with friends, visiting family and exploring what ever city we may find ourselves in (with the occasional stint in the library of course). Like any Fashionista/o, I dwell on the weekends as a chance to get out of my traditional T-shirts and jeans and let my personal style sine through. Whether you’re dressing for brunch with the girls, shopping downtown or an early evening get-together, the weekend is your chance to strut down sidewalk and rock it like Karlie Kloss did on the spring/summer 2014 NYFW DKNY runway. The secret to having an amazing weekend is in the outfit, so take advantage of our 48 hours of freedom and make the most of it!
This week’s Fashionista is dressed in an outfit that is the perfect example of what to wear to make your weekends a little more stylish. Mixing a printed silk tank top with a simple pair of harem pants and leather booties, she shows off a classic all-black outfit that’s both sleek and modish. The harem pant is a great option for university students to wear on weekends, as it’s more or less a fancy pair of sweat pants, great for lounging on a friend’s couch or somewhere on a patio. Her leather booties are a chic upgrade from the daily go-to sneakers or flip flops of most students and give an air of sophistication to her look. You can imitate a perfect weekend wear outfit with a pair of affordable harem or lounge pants from Urban Outfitters paired with a similar silk tank or one you already own.
Always keep in mind the our lives are unpredictable, especially in college you never know when the next party might be just around the corner. So put away the Crocs and be weekend-ready with a vamped up look from your daily class attire. Have fun, be young, and remember that looking fabulous is never out of style.
One Simple Change: Trade in the thin silk tank top for a tucked-in blouse, or wear a motto jacket over the top to achieve a more conservative version of your weekend wear when going out on a parents weekend or to a meeting with a professor.
