WHAT TO WEAR: Summer

Summertime and the livin’ is easy. The spring semester has come to a close. Whether you are taking classes or have an internship, you don’t quite mind a little hard work when the sun is out. Vitamin D isn’t too bad, is it? While temperatures are rising, the nights still carry a breeze.

Whether you follow the rule or not, Memorial Day has passed and the season has begun. That is, the season for white apparel. Don’t get me wrong; On Wednesdays I wear black. Actually, I’ll wear black any day of the week. But white is fresh. White is a clean slate marking the start of a new season.

Taking into account the cooler mornings and nights of early summer, this Fashionista is wearing a cream-colored sweater under her crisp white, denim overalls. Notice the rose gold buttons. The natural tones of her tan wool hat, chocolate Birkenstocks and leather bracelet with gold embellishments all bring together a look that is Bohemian, yet refined. This Fashionista completed her look with a pair of retro-themed tortoise shell sunnies.

One Simple Change: As the weather gets warmer, a look like this might be too hot. Whether you’re combatting the heat of the subway or the humidity of the heartland, I’m sure many of you can relate. Transitioning into the dog days, roll your overall pants higher, or simply opt for ones with a shorter hem. Once it’s time for your sweater to be stored away for the fall, replace it with a light silk tank top.
