WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Okay, so this week I cheated a little bit. Your tour guide went a little off course across the country to Indiana (the homeland.) But do not be discouraged! While it was a tad harder to find a Fashionista in Indiana than in San Francisco, I was still able to hunt one down.

Long story short, I was in Indiana for my cousin’s graduation and when my mom and I were visiting a family friend, I found this Fashionista. She was coming home from her summer class, and I thought it was perfect. Yes, some people have to take summer school, me included, but we must look stylish doing it!

We all know that sitting in class can get uncomfortable, especially long classes, but this Fashionista is well-prepared. She is wearing the essential boyfriend jeans. I love boyfriend jeans for multiple reasons, one being that they are comfortable. They are meant to hang on your hips and be loose all over. While they feel like sweatpants, they have the structured denim look to take the outfit up a notch. I also like them because they are shredded. Most, but not all, boyfriend jeans are made to look messy to fit the “boyfriend” look. Like I said, I love them.

Along with the trendy boyfriend jeans, this Fashionista rocks a flannel and matches it with a loose tank top. Flannels are another staple wardrobe item because they can be dressed up or dressed down, and they can be worn buttoned up or buttoned down. They can even be worn around your waist as an accessory! Flannels come in a plethora of colors that offer endless possibilities.

While most people would stop at jeans and a flannel for class, this Fashionista is far too stylish for that. A simple layered necklace, two bangle bracelets and a camel colored tote bag pull the outfit together. Not to mention her Birkenstock sandals—another trend that is coming back in style, which my mom laughs about.

One Simple Change: Now we can’t forget that it’s summer, although I’m sure you haven’t forgotten. While some people have summer school, like this Fashionista, they still want to go out after class to enjoy their summer. One thing to change up this outfit would be a pair of tan or camel colored wedges or heels. You could also ditch the tank top and button up the flannel, but that is not necessary. Take down your hair, throw some lipstick on and you’re ready for a night out with the girls downtown!
