WHAT TO WEAR: Class

June 12th, 2015 at 2:00am

While summer vacation may have already begun for many students, the warmer days of the summer season have yet to arrive. Embracing June gloom is a struggle for many Californians since we’re so used to sunny skies and high temperatures nearly year-round. But this Fashionista’s look had the benefit of being stylish and comfortable, making it perfect to face the chilly weather.

Please give a warm welcome to this lovely Fashionista! She is sporting a red and navy flannel over her crochet tank. A pair of skinny jeans and classic Converse shoes completed her casual outfit. Her ensemble particularly struck me as relaxed yet put together, perfect for class while June gloom brewed overhead.

By using a mix of colors and fabrics, Vanessa’s outfit really stood out amongst the sweatpants that day. Even though her look was not summery in a conventional sense, the flowy fabrics lent themselves to the cool California feel of the outfit. True to Fashionista/o style, her look blended trendy pieces (like the crop too with crochet detailing), as well as classic items (such as the flannel and jeans). The crop top, though layered on top, was still noticeable due to its crisp whiteness and textured fabric. Despite the cold breeze outside, this Fashionista showed off a little skin, which made me think that she was looking forward to more summer-appropriate temperatures. Her jeans were the perfect denim-dyed shade, as they stood out against the navy color in her flannel. Rounding off the look with a tried and true pair of Converse sneakers made it perfect for class.

One Simple Change: Switch out the crop top and jeans for a white slip dress and a statement necklace, and you’re on your way to an active night out with your girlfriends!
