WHAT TO WEAR: Celebration

The school year is over, the dorms are empty and summer is upon us. We can all take a sigh of relief as we look forward to the next few weeks that will undoubtedly be filled with graduation parties and  summer celebrations. This is a prime time to mingle with new faces, catch up with old friends and answer the infamous question of “How was your year?” I see these celebrations as the perfect opportunity to meet new Fashionistas/os and showcase a newly defined summer wardrobe! Many Fashionistas/os can be seen sporting their newest summer dresses or crisply pressed shirts, inspiration is everywhere!

It can be tricky to choose the perfect ensemble for a graduation party. It is not uncommon to make an appearance at several gatherings in one evening, so it is imperative that an outfit is both comfortable and appropriate. This Fashionista shows us how to create a fabulous look while also keeping the occasion in mind. She is definitely dressed and ready to mingle and even play a few rounds of corn hole!

A romper is a perfect piece to wear for a celebration such as a graduation party. Rompers have endless styling possibilities and are the perfect combination of dressy and fun. They can achieve the soft appearance of a summer dress while maintaining the comfort of wearing shorts. This Fashionista chose a kaleidoscope print romper showcasing rich jewel tones, a wide V-neck and three-quarter length sleeves.

One of my favorite things about rompers is how versatile they are when it comes to styling. Dainty necklaces and bracelets can create a more toned down look; while bold statement pieces, similar to what the Fashionista above chose, can give off a boho vibe. When focusing on footwear, a trusty pair of wedges are a must have for every closet. Wedges are a go to for graduation parties because they are dressy, comfortable and practical. Let’s face it, who wants to worry about their heels sinking into the grass?

One Simple Change: After making an appearance at an afternoon graduation party are you headed downtown to see your favorite band play at a concert? Try adding a fringe vest and some gladiator sandals to take the look from dressy to casual.
