Three Tips to Create a Perfect and Personalized Feed on Instagram

June 13th, 2017 at 2:00am

Instagram has become my absolute favorite social media. I love creating, and I think that Instagram can be a really fun way to express yourself! It’s like a little visual grid of photos that represent who you are as a person. If you want to up your Instagram game and make it a better reflection of your personality, check out my three tips on creating the perfect Instagram feed.

1—Always have a bomb caption. Its not easy, I know. I have spent hours searching for puns on Pinterest to incorporate into my Instagram captions only to change it at the last second (five times). Luckily technology has our back, and there is a new app that will make captions for you—and they’re actually good. I tried it out and couldn’t get over how fun and cheeky they are. Try it out yourself! It’s called CapGenius. For the photo below it helped me come up with “flower child” as the caption.

2—A killer theme. Okay, this one seems hard—I know. But have you ever scrolled through that insanely aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed and thought to yourself, “Wow, this is amazing?” Guess what, it is actually easy. The simple hack is to use the same filter for every photo. My favorite app for filters is VSCO. It has some very Instagram–worthy filters that can transform any photo into an artsy one. To see how everything will mesh together before you post it I use UNUM. It is a seriously life-saving Instagram planning app. Side note— remember to pick a filter that will look good on a variety of pictures and that fits your style so you don’t get sick of it! My favorite is VSCO’s C1.

3—High-quality pictures. This one seems like a given, but having high-quality pictures makes any photo look better. I love using my Cannon T3i or my IPhone 7 plus for taking photos. The cameras make for really clear pictures, but camera quality is not the only thing you can to use in order to boost your picture quality. Make sure you are using good lighting: indoors next to a big window is my favorite lighting. Remember, always make sure when using editing apps to save things as their full size! Compressing them lowers the quality. I find that my favorite pictures of myself are always when I am wearing simple clothing pieces with natural makeup.

The most important tip for creating an Instagram feed that really visually represents you as a person is just to have fun with it. Instagram isn’t a competition; it is a way to express yourself. Don’t get caught up in likes or followers and just enjoy taking photos and posting them with your friends and followers.
