Ah, winter in Florida. Will it ever come?
It can be really hard to style outfits in the fall and winter time when you live in a warm climate. As a Floridian, I have slowly began to master the art of dressing like you live in a cold climate while wearing clothes that won’t make you sweat entirely too much.
Lace-up tops are all the rage this year, and I for one am not shying away from this trend. I absolutely love pairing a lace-up top with my outfits this winter because it offers some cooling for those 80 degree days. This one is long-sleeved, but there are so many short-sleeved tops that look similar that could come in handy for those really warm days.
This winter, I have been loving the military jacket trend. This one is perfect for a warm climate because the material is thin and it still looks great unbuttoned. This particular jacket cinches at the waist which makes it a bit more flattering to my figure.
If there is one thing that is true about a Florida winter, it is the unpredictability of the weather. Some days will start at a scorching 80 degrees, a light rain will fall and then the temperature drops into the 60s. (Yes, that is cold for us Floridians.) To combat this, it is always a good idea to bring a jacket like this army green one just in case you experience the oddity that is Florida during the winter.
To complete the look, pair your southern winter outfit with a pair of lace-up boots. I opted for ones with a small heel because they add a feminine element to the look.
Living in a warm climate doesn’t mean you should sacrifice winter style. The easiest way I find to add an element of winter is through a bold lip. Here I added a dark, plum color liquid lipstick. A liquid lipstick comes in handy in a warm climate because they don’t stray from your lips even if you are hot.
