STYLE GURU STYLE: Texas Tuxedo

Happy Friday, y’all! J.Crew’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection has been where my outfit inspiration has been derived from lately. It has rich denim, vibrant yellows and dazzling prints. J.Crew threw the fashion world a slight curve ball with this collection by venturing out of the typical J.Crew box. Jenna Lyons has helped steer this brand down a small fork in the road. The creative team at J.Crew has incorporated oversized pieces in this collection that include basketball shorts, chambray, button-downs, etc. This collection is easily inspiring for college Fashionistas everywhere. The collection includes dozens of simple pieces you can mix and match and feel comfortable in. On a Monday, what Fashionista would not want a simple, comfortable staple piece to throw on?

The thought of J.Crew’s collection inspires me to create as many comfortable and preppy outfit variations as possible. For my ensemble, I decided to translate J.Crew’s love for chambray and denim, while dressing up my look with accessories. I’ve never been a fan of denim on denim, the Texas tuxedo or whatever you would like to call it, but I decided I needed to step out of my personal box, like J.Crew’s creative team. After stepping out of my box, I quickly realized my newfound love for denim on denim. It’s comfortable, easy to put together and can be dressed up with accessories. It was also an ego booster to receive several compliments on my attire. This look, without a doubt, falls in line with my effortless tomboy style I’ve become accustom to lately.

With inspiration from J.Crew, my spring style and my closet is transitioning into a mecca of denim, vibrant white and vivid yellows. My hangers are filled with staple pieces I can wear over and over again, and believe me, when I say my Texas tuxedo will be making a campus appearance again very soon.

Get My Look: 1. A rich indigo chambray top. 2. The perfect pair of jeans. 3. A pair of suede booties.
