STYLE GURU STYLE: Southern Bell Skirt Spells

I think I have come down with a mild case of Carolina fever. Bejeweled accessories and voluminous hair just feels like home. Not to say that every lovely lady of the south likes these things but, they are definitely familiar at least. My A-line skirt is reminiscent of Altuzarra’s resort 2016 line. Pleats are back in style Fashionistas/os! Fast fashion brands like Forever 21 and H&M have already adopted the style.

J.Crew shows a softer, more girly side to women’s wear in the design of this mid-length skirt. All the while, staying true to their reputation for high quality, tailored garments. The pink fabric is extremely lightweight and is slightly metallic. To keep the country persona alive I chose to pair the skirt with a denim shirt from Kohl’s. The shoulder has some leather detail that makes the ensemble a bit more casual.

Now, on to the accessories. The nude heels I’m wearing are a prime example of my theory that you can look expensive without emptying your pockets. These flashy pumps were under 30 dollars. I’m picnic ready with the rectangular woven tote tightly secured in my hands. I got it from one of my favorite places to find hidden treasures. Goodwill!

Business in the front, body in the back. The layers in the back of my hair give the impression that I have a Bump It secured at the top of my crown. My bangs are pinned back a little to give an American sweetheart vibe. Ruby Kisses is my go to brand for inexpensive, matte lipsticks. This shade is called Dark Plum Scene. It’s my new obsession!

Get My Look: 1. Pleated midi-length skirt. 2. Jean shirt. 3. Jeweled heels.
