STYLE GURU STYLE: Rocker Love

Recently, I’ve been looking back at past decades for inspiration with my own style. Whenever the seasons change, I always seem to want to switch out my wardrobe completely and try out a new look that season. Unfortunately, my college budget doesn’t allow that to happen. Luckily, I came across the Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear line and gained a ton of ideas for pieces I already have in my closet. To me, this collection has such a bohemian feel with the crocheted and flowy garments found throughout that I couldn’t help but take some of their insight.

Typically, my eye always tends to love a more relaxed look, but, as mentioned before, I’ve been looking to mix up mine lately. Though this line and my personal style seem to take more inspiration from the ’70s, I figured why not add some edge to my look. I took a flowy black dress with lace detail on the top and paired it with a jean jacket to make it more rocker.

When it came to shoes, I followed similar to the Chloé line and chose a pair of nude strappy sandals that had a little bit of a heal. To top off this edgy look, I added a box black purse trimmed with gold metal and a gold chain. To me, this look is a perfect blend between boho and edgy. Oh, and to add just a little more of a ’80s rocker feel, I added bright red lipstick and a pair of Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses with reflective lenses.

Changing up my look is always something I love but definitely something I fear as well. I tend to worry about modifying my personal style too much and if I can actually pull of what I am trying to wear. Creating this outfit was actually easy and a great way to give my more relaxed style some edge. This is a look I most definitely will try again and keep playing with.

Get My Look: 1. Jean jacket. 2. Black dress. 3. Purse. 4. Nude sandals with a heel. 5. Red lipstick.
