STYLE GURU STYLE: It’s Black and White Baby

Black and white worn together never go out of style. However, it does become difficult to find new and unique ways to place the two together. Junya Watnabe’s fall ready-to-wear collection was a collage of classic black and white pieces. His entire collection is very simple, using color-blocking to create a dramatic look. Each of his pieces are simple, yet beautiful. This collection is perfect to adapt for fall because of the simple and classic color scheme.

Junya Watnabe has reenergized the classic black and white ensemble and is the inspiration behind my outfit. Junya Watnabe’s collection is so simple, yet it is very new and up-to-date. I used the simple color scheme to create a black and white outfit with modern pieces that still look classic. My flowing shirt adds the white color while still being a summer piece. I used my pleather skirt to combat this summery look and to bring the outfit into fall. Additionally the skirt cinches the waist, and although both of these pieces fall away from the body, they are brought together in the middle.

Leather booties help to reinforce the fall look while adhering to the black and white scheme that Junya Watnabe’s collection inspired. Finally, accessorizing helps to complete the entire look. My bag is also black and leather, emphasizing the color-blocked look. I used plain jewelry, as to not draw away from the emphasis between black and white. This look is very simple to pull off and will always look classic.
