I have been all over bright colors this summer. Neon fuchsias and warm oranges have been some of my favorite shades to pair with distressed cut-offs and loose maxi skirts. So, I was delighted to discover Andrew Gn’s resort 2015 collection recently. It is packed to the brim with some of the loudest colors out there. However, the designs are not ostentatious whatsoever. On the contrary, they are perhaps some of the classiest, most ladylike pieces I have ever seen. Each outfit is incredibly charming and brings to mind some sort of youthful garden party. Florals and colors command attention in elegant designs that are sure to provide endless inspiration.
In an effort to embrace both garden prints and stronger hues, I reached for one of my favorite shirts. This teal peplum blouse pops in any outfit and has a subtle floral pattern. The peplum design also highlights the importance of waist emphasis in Andrew Gn’s show. Almost every outfit includes a bow around the waist or a shirt fitted at the waist. In addition to wearing the shape-accentuating peplum shirt, I also decided to add a skinny black belt to provide even more definition.
Of course, the flower power does not end there. I also wore a rosy scrunch skirt from Free People to add even more femininity and color to the outfit. I love how the leaves in the skirt match perfectly with the color of the shirt. The pairing is unexpected yet quite complementary.
To accessorize, I threw on a long flower necklace from Aerie. It looks like quite a delicate piece and works well with the coloring in the skirt. I also wore a pair of classic black peep toe heels that match the belt and go nicely with the overall outfit. Finally, I wore some bright pink lipstick to provide yet another pop of color and experiment with my summer makeup look. I love this ensemble and appreciate Andrew Gn’s eye for fresh combinations and fun designs. I will definitely use this show for further outfit inspiration in the months to come!
