STYLE GURU STYLE: Going Green

What do you think of when you hear the expression “going green?” Do you think of reusing and recycling? Do you think of battery-powered cars? Or do you think of the kate spade new york 2015 ready-to-wear collection that took a fresh spin on classic spring looks? The collection, inspired by the ’60s, was playful, colorful and creative. It featured whimsical patterns that reflected florals and other textures that are found in nature. The setting of the show felt as though we were sitting in a fresh meadow and left the audience yearning to sit outside to enjoy the weather.

I took inspiration from my favorite designer’s collection by wearing a chic jumpsuit in Kelly green. Like many of the pieces in the kate spade new york collection, this romper is exquisitely detailed with lace and button accents, so I kept my accessories to a minimum to keep the attention on the focal point of my outfit.  I carried a sleek, structured handbag and accessorized with a white and gold kate spade bow bracelet, as well as a fun statement flower bracelet.

A jumpsuit is the perfect piece for days when you’re rushing to class or work and don’t have time to pick out a matching top and bottom. Keep your jumpsuit casual with sandals or flats and minimal accessories, or dress it up with wedges for an award ceremony or dinner party. Green is the perfect go-to color for spring because it is a refreshing and clarifying pop of color. Find a jumpsuit or romper in green, and you’ll be sure to turn heads!
