STYLE GURU STYLE: Fringed For Fun

I’m always looking for new pieces to add to my wardrobe that vary from anything else I own. While poking around online, I came across an article on a recent fashion show that prompted me to put together my own runway-inspired outfit. What I love about the A Détacher spring 2015 show is it gives viewers a taste of fashions that are somewhat simple to put together for a unique street look. Interpreting the designer’s vision as my own a bit, I decided to channel a festival inspired look…in honor of music festival season, of course! Many pictures in various magazines, such as People and OK!, show celebrities at music festivals around the country wearing popular trends. It always seems that they over do some part of the outfit; whether it be jewelry or the clothing itself. Therefore, I tried to keep mine simple and chic.

Speaking for myself, I know I can’t afford some of the lavish pieces we see on our favorite stars so it’s good practice for finding similar pieces, but at a much lower price. Now, where to start you ask? This trend is all about capturing a laid-back vibe so, you have free range to incorporate loose-fitting pieces and, most importantly, fun accessories and a mix of colors. Personally, I love wearing dresses when the weather is nice, so I found a great dress that is easy to match anything with. I am also in love with this open poncho top with fringes; it is so comfortable yet, so trendy. The necklace I’m wearing is perhaps one of my favorite pieces I own because 1. I love elephants and 2. It is so unique! I would recommend adding a piece to the outfit that is unique to your style because it will only make your outfit better. As with any trend, it is imperative that you make it your own so, go ahead and spice things up. Finally, in true North Carolina fashion, I paired my cowboy boots with it to add some Southern flare. And, of course, you can’t forget your favorite pair of shades.

After reading this review on this rather “offbeat” show from designer Mona Kowalska, I was determined to put my own spin on her wild designs. Trying a new style showed me that you can pull off anything you want as long as you tell yourself you can. Let’s be honest, there is no rule in fashion that says you can’t rock any given style, right? Correct! So let’s get to it, ladies and gents!

Get My Look: 1. A colorful open poncho 2. A white dress (maxi or short) 3. Fun shades 4. Unique jewelry
