STYLE GURU STYLE: Campus Fashion Show

This past week I was fortunate to attend a fashion show co-hosted by the Collegiate Merchandising Association, one of Florida State University’s fashion clubs, and Clutch, a student-run fashion magazine! The entire street was shut down and a runway was set up in front of one of Tallahassee’s most popular restaurants. Local vendors also held pop-up shops for show-goers to peruse and purchase while they waited for the fashion show to start.

The fashion show featured so many of today’s current trends that were photographed for this issue of Clutch magazine. Models wore items like silk rompers, chunky heels, satin bomber jackets, off-the-shoulder tops, and boho lace. The list goes on and on, but every model looked amazing walking down that runway.

Part of the fun of going to a fashion show is getting to show off your own style! I’ve been very into the minimalistic look lately, wearing very basic pieces and pairing few accessories with them, and I channeled this style into my fashion show attire. Since its finally spring, I chose to wear a pastel peach-colored dress to incorporate some springtime color into my outfit. I decided to wear black for the few accessories I chose to create a harsh contrast with my pale-colored dress. My velvet choker, beaded wrap bracelet, and little bag worked perfectly. I also chose to wear my black caged block heels to keep with the minimalistic feel, but to also add a little extra detail to my basic outfit.

It was so inspiring to see what my friends and peers at Florida State University were able to accomplish this semester. All of their hard work definitely paid off and successfully inspired me to push the limits with my own wardrobe.
