STYLE GURU STYLE: All About That Lace

Spring has finally sprung in Happy Valley and you know what that means—spring cleaning. While it may not be everyone’s favorite activity, the best part of spring cleaning is sifting through your winter wardrobe and finding a few gems in the back of your closet that you forgot you even had. Even better is looking through runway shows and finding inspiration for an outfit with that shirt you were just about to get rid of.

I found inspiration in the form of Céline’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, which featured many pieces with elements of high contrast, lace and sheer materials.

Taking a few tips from the show, I found a top that was reminiscent of the slip-like dresses shown in Céline’s collection. I decided to keep with the high contrast theme and chose to stick to the black and white palette shown in most of these looks.

My outfit consists of a white top that has a sheer, black neckline, adorned with lace detailing. I paired this top with high-waisted black, woven shorts that are perfect for a warm spring day, along with a black blazer with leather details on the pocket. Peep toe black booties give this outfit a sexy vibe instantly, but opting for flats could make this look more suitable for a more casual occasion.

A rose gold watch and a neutral bag are the perfect accessories for this classic look. Black and gold cat-eye sunglasses are one of my go-to pieces for a sunny spring day and perfectly complement this outfit.

Get My Look: 1. A lacy high contrast top. 2. A pair of woven shorts. 3. A black blazer. 4. A pair of peep toe heeled booties.
