STYLE GURU STYLE: ’70s Swayed

Suede, leather and fur are some of the hottest trends this fall, so naturally, when I saw a runway show combine all three, I was all about it. Jill Stuart’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is a reinvention of the ’70s with a fresh modern twist. Stuart combines the best parts of the decade with a retro color scheme, suede and fur with flowy dresses and whimsical floral prints with a bohemian vibe. She incorporates various lingerie-inspired pieces, like bandeau tops and bias-cut camisoles, making the day to night transition from chic to sexy super easy. The collection’s influences are fun, unmistakable and oh-so inspirational.

I loved the combination of black leather and suede in this collection, which is perfect for fall; combining the black leather with suede was something I haven’t seen done much. For this look, I chose a sleek black leather dress and a brown suede button-down shirt over it. I added a statement necklace and a pair of black booties, perfect for all the holiday parties.

The black leather and brown suede combination works well with just about anything, for any occasion. Now that the weather is getting colder, try leather pants or leggings with a suede shirt for an everyday look that is perfect for running errands or heading to class. Or if you’re going after a trendy nighttime look that is perfect for any holiday get together, try swapping out the suede button-down for a heavier tan or suede jacket over a black leather dress. No outfit is complete without accessories (or a nice fur vest). I leave the choice up to you and the look you’re trying to achieve.

Get My Look: 1. Black leather dress.   2.  Suede button-up shirt. 3. Statement necklace.
