STYLE GURU BIO: Zoe Goodman

Hey guys! My name is Zoe and I was born in the beautiful NYC! When I was nine, my family and I moved out to the unusually warm and sunny Malibu, California. My new friends at school were immediately taken back my bold sense of fashion. I was always experimenting with my outfits, mixing colors that didn’t go together, and patterns that probably shouldn’t be layered. Moving to the other side of the country was tough, but fashion always kept me grounded. Buying a new coat or a new pair of shoes made me feel comfortable in my own skin, when I felt like crawling out of it. That’s when I realized fashion wasn’t only something I was passionate about, but that it was my life, my career, and what got me out of bed in the morning. Even in the darkest of days, retail therapy was my hero.

My roommates and best friends would describe my sense of style as bold and edgy. Henry Ford once said, “any color, as long as it’s black,” and I couldn’t agree more. I love studs, pointy boots, sneakers, mixing patterns, denim on denim, and the ever so hated mixing black and blue.

Besides fashion, I start and finish my days listening to music. I can’t even look in the mirror until a soundtrack is on, and I fall asleep blasting it through my ears. My favorite artists include Florence and The Machine, Matt Corby, Hozier, Ben Howard, Benjamin Francis Leftwhich, Sia, and that list is possibly longer than my favorite brands.

Currently, I am in my last semester at the University of Colorado, Boulder studying Communication and Writing. I came out to Colorado to be able to ski whenever I wanted to, and enjoy the four seasons that I have been missing while living in Malibu. My plan for after college is to be hired within a label doing Public Relations or at a Fashion Public Relations boutique. My favorite brands include Rag & Bone, Blank NYC, Joie, Freebird, Rebecca Minkoff, MiuMiu, Stuart Weitzman, and Alexander Wang. My favorite places to shop are Intermix, Relvolve, and Zara.

The greatest trends still to this day, are high-wasted jeans, oversize coats and scarves, studs, reflected sunglasses and statement jackets. In this photo I’m wearing my favorite studded black leather jacket and not pictured is the detachable hood. My fun Free People flared jeans actually go with anything. I wear them beachy, in the winter as shown, or just hanging out with a T-shirt on. Round sunglasses are my favorite, and these Madewell reflectors are so much fun for any look, plus they are 15 percent off with any student ID! Lastly, my B-low the Belt double buckle is my always go-to. It works with jeans, a skirt, shorts, a romper, and really anything I want it to. Probably my best purchase of 2016!

So excited to get this semester as a Style Guru Intern started!
