STYLE GURU BIO: Shannon Macon

Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Shannon Macon and I am starting my junior year at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County. I am a Psychology major and Political Science minor. Although my major screams nothing of the fashion world, I work in the fashion industry at a large boutique in Annapolis, MD.

Growing up, my wardrobe consisted of T-shirts, basketball shorts and sneakers and the ever famous school uniform. It wasn’t until my freshman year of college that I really began to express myself through my wardrobe. Pinterest became an addiction and mixing and matching pieces in my closet became a habit. While buying new clothes was always exciting, the real excitement for me, was how one piece could be used to make many different outfits.

The biggest influence for my love of fashion trends and designers has come from working in the fashion industry. Working at a large boutique has expanded my view of fashion merchandising and allowed me to gain a sense of my own style. With ever changing trends, I like to describe my style as simple; the only word that can truly capture the essence of my fashion. My wardrobe consists of many staples and so much black. Some of my favorite go-to pieces for the fall consist of, skinny jeans, a stylish jacket/blazer, a little black dress and my gold-plated initial necklace.

In the words of Coco Chanel, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”

As a new Style Guru, I am more than thrilled to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team this fall semester and to bring to you the latest fashion trends from the campus of UMBC.
