STYLE GURU BIO: Sara Lucas

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Sara Lucas, and I am a current student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I will be entering my third semester majoring in Fashion Merchandising Management in the fall, and I am incredibly excited to be apart of the CollegeFashionista team this summer session!

As someone who resided in New Jersey, I’ve always been exposed to the Big Apple and knew at a young age I’d one day call it home. Being a dancer since I was two and a half, I found myself frequently swimming in glitter and bedazzling everything I owned. Although this wasn’t the gateway to my love for fashion, it taught me how to project my emotions through the arts. As I grew older I found myself using fashion to often express myself.

I frequently find myself inspired by a box of costume jewelry I inherited from my great grandmother. She was a true Fashionista in her day and was always living by the phrase, “The bigger, the better!” My personal style is constantly changing day by day, season by season. Where one day, black on black is a must as it simply makes me feel put together and chic, another you may find my grandmother’s pearls hung around my neck complemented by sparkly Keds. My big personality and energetic attitude is definitely reflected in my personal style.

I thrive off the rush and diversity throughout the city as everywhere you glance a new movement is coming straight at you. Seeing that self style struts through the claustrophobic streets daily, I am eager to pick out the city slickers who portray the newest trends in fashion with their own unique twist!
