STYLE GURU BIO: Morgan Young

Hello Fashionistas!  My name is Morgan and I am currently an apparel design major with a Spanish minor at the University of Delaware.  As a member of the University of Delaware figure skating team and an aspiring fashion designer, I’m so happy to be a member of the CollegeFashionista team!

My favorite thing about fashion has to be how international the industry is. People from any culture around the world can understand fashion, even when there is a language barrier in place. I one day want to be able to connect different cultures and truly make a difference!

My love for fashion comes mostly from my mother. I believe my mom is one of the most fashionable people I know and have looked up to her from a young age!  I spend hours searching through her closets and love seeing how the trends have changed over the past several years and even decades.  The vintage clothes I find in her closet really inspire my style!

When it comes to my personal style today, I don’t know if I could label myself with one specific “style.”  I do love to dress boho-chic, but there are many days my style leans towards athleisure. I am constantly running from class to the gym and to the ice rink while still staying as fashionable as possible.  Many times, my style will lean towards grunge with my oversized sweaters, neutral colors and combat boots. I do love to try it all!

One of my recent favorite trends is mixing different prints. As seen in my look above, I brought my tie-dye and Aztec print swing dress and duster vest together to create a both feminine and bohemian look!  It may be risky and challenging to mix prints but as Coco Chanel once said, “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”

To accessorize this look i decided to match my stackable vintage rings with my Pura Vida bracelets; a go to of mine for just about any outfit.  I love to mix and match and take risks.  These short lace-up booties are perfect for so many occasions, including this daytime look. They are my favorite new purchase and I can’t wait to continue to wear them!

Fashion is my greatest passion and I hope this semester my blogs will inspire Fashionistas from colleges across the country!
