STYLE GURU BIO: Molly Bryant

Hello, my name is Molly Bryant. I’m about to be a junior at Virginia Tech and this will be my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Personally, summer has always been the best time of year for me—no class, no papers, no exams. However, becoming a college student completely changed my summer dynamic: it’s no longer about how many hours you spend on the beach per day, or what fun, new adventure to take with friends; it’s about working as many hours as possible to replenish a quickly-diminishing bank account.

Although work doesn’t sound like fun (and I probably would rather be sitting on the beach with my feet in the sand), for me a summer of working isn’t all that bad. I get to spend my summers working on the beachfront at my family’s pizza place. Yes, it’s work, and it gets busy and hot, but how many people can really say they work on the beach? I consider myself pretty lucky. Not only am excited about my summer job, but I also look forward to continue writing for CollegeFashionista. Something that I started in the spring.

The spring semester certainly kept me busy. I took on more than I ever had, between taking 18 credits, becoming a captain of the club field hockey team and writing for CollegeFashionista. Not only did I learn the importance of time management, but I also learned more about myself than I had imagined.

For this look pictured, I went with a dressier-style summer maxi dress, but paired it with my favorite knee-high gladiator sandals to give it a more casual feel. After layering my outfit with a high-necked crocheted bodycon, to accessorize, I threw on my favorite summer, earrings, rings and bracelets. To top it off, I went with a top-knot for my hair to keep cool in the heat, and my favorite sunglasses—a beach essential.

As my sophomore year at Virginia Tech came to a close, I was excited to be back home for summer, but also sad for such an awesome year to end. Although my second year flew by, looking back on all of the amazing things I got to experience had me already excited for next fall. CollegeFashionista has allowed me to do what I love most – write about fashion. Spring semester truly tested my limits at some points, but I am so grateful for everything it taught me and everything I was able to experience on such an amazing campus. I am ready to take on junior year!
