STYLE GURU BIO: Margaret Egeln

Starting out as a freshman at the University of Florida, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Now I’m beginning my senior year here I still have no earthly clue, but I’ve narrowed it down quite a bit. I’ve taken everything from Biology 101 to Graphic Design to Film Production and what I’ve largely realized is that I’d like to be involved in a creative field.

One thing I’ve always loved doing is reading fashion blogs and I was drawn to CollegeFashionista for the amazing variety of articles about college fashion, specifically written by college students. This fall I look forward to throwing out my own sartorial two cents. Get ready for puns, because they are my favorite brand of humor! Also, having the chance to showcase some of my fellow UF students is super exciting.

As for my personal style, I’d largely categorize it as a combination of eccentric and vintage. I thrift like it’s my job and the majority of my clothing is recycled from various thrift and vintage shops. I’m on that broke college student budget, and thrifting allows me to replicate more expensive fashion pieces and interpret them in my own DIY way.

This fall fashion seems to be all about the ’70s and I for one am super enthusiastic about it. I got the skirt I’m wearing from a thrift store and thought it was the perfect burnt orange to evoke those ’70s feels. I wore it with a plain tank, because hello Florida weather, and a silver statement necklace to add a little bit of bohemian flair. Finishing with a mini backpack for all my class essentials and my newest favorite pair of comfy sandals, Tevas, I’m ready to trek all over campus for class.
