STYLE GURU BIO: Madison Schott

Well hello there, fellow Fashionistas! I am super excited to be apart of the CollegeFashionista team for this fall season. My name is Madison Schott and I am a sophomore at Seton Hall University. I am a Mathematical Finance and Marketing major (I know, complete opposites, right?). I like to keep busy on campus by devoting my time to being secretary of the finance club and social media chair of my fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.

I am a city girl at heart; I was born outside Philadelphia and now go to school on the outskirts of New York City. My weekends consist of taking the train into the Big Apple and exploring secret gems of the city. Some of my favorite adventures include stumbling into modern art galleries in Chelsea, attending spontaneous African pop-up parties in SoHo or ordering lobster rolls in Chelsea Market and eating them in Hudson River Park, watching the sunset. I cannot wait to hunt down some awesome street styles while on these city trips of mine.

My love for fashion began when I was eight years old. My mom signed me up for a sewing and beading class at the local YMCA and I was hooked ever since. I took sewing lessons all through middle school and high school. I even opened my own business, Maddie Mae Designs, where I sell the clothing I make. Fashion has always been a huge passion of mine that I have devoted a lot of my time and energy to.

Once I discovered my love for fashion I dove into the world of social media. I started my own Youtube channel when I was 13 years old, where I made fashion look books. Through Youtube, I found a passion for photography. I began taking all kinds of pictures of clothing, people, flowers and landscapes. This internship with CollegeFashionista allows me to integrate both of my passions, fashion and photography.

I embody many unique styles, from bohemian to vintage to more sophisticated and business like. This outfit embodies my style very well. The pattern of the dress is perfect for summer because it is bright, colorful and fun. I think the real reason I love this look so much is because it reminds me of an outfit Lana Del Rey, my creative idol, would wear. This dress embodies my personality because it is sophisticated, yet playful, with skin-baring cutouts. These wedges are my absolute favorite for summer dinners. They are on trend with the chunky wooden heels and happen to be uber comfy.

I look forward to these next few months sharing my style adventures with you all, from what my best friends are wearing around campus to the everyday outfits of New York City’s most stylish. I plan to show you more vintage-inspired looks, as well as bohemian outfits, and even what to wear if you are a busy business intern (like myself).
