Hello CollegeFashionista readers! I’m happy to be returning as a Style Guru this fall semester. I’m starting my junior year at Ohio University, studying strategic communications and marketing. I can’t wait to share some of my favorite looks found around our gorgeous little college town, Athens, Ohio. I love finding new ways to style outfits that can go from class to date night, or a night out on the town.
My favorite part about college is being able to observe all of the different outfits and looks found on students. Although I’m not in a big city, I’m constantly inspired by those around me. As an editor for Thread magazine, Ohio University’s most established fashion publication; I’m able to learn more about fashion through our writers and other members on the executive board. I don’t think you have to be living in NYC to be fashion-forward. There’s nothing wrong with picking up the latest issue of Vogue and finding ways to translate runway trends into your own wardrobe.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in college, it’s that my favorite brands vary from year to year. Currently I don’t think I could live without Kate Spade, Free People, Urban Outfitters, LuLu’s and Goodnight Macaroon. I absolutely love reading fashion blogs and discovering new places to shop. There’s really nothing better than finding a place with unique items that no one else has. I’m willing to splurge on a purse, jacket or even a shirt if it’s something I don’t think I could find anywhere else. I tend to do this while I’m traveling or even at boutiques on the streets of Athens.
