STYLE GURU BIO: Madeleine Schlosser

Hi Fashionistas/os! My name’s Madeleine Schlosser and I’m a senior at Tulane, though my petite stature often leads people to believe otherwise. I’m studying Marketing and English in school, though when pursuing a career I hope to combine these with my interest in fashion. I’m so excited to be back for my fourth semester writing for CollegeFashionista as well as continuing my social media internship for the site.

This past summer I was lucky enough to live in London while interning for a fashion public relations company. I had an amazing experience exploring the city and visiting multiple other countries. The European fashion was unbelievable and I found myself inspired everywhere I went, whether it was the beachy style of Barcelona or the classic, minimalist looks in central London. I had to pick up a pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses, an off-the-shoulder top and a denim overall dress after seeing them everywhere.

While Europeans’ styling opened my eyes to many new looks, I was especially influenced by their ability to wear sneakers with just about anything and still manage to look put together and fashionable. Although I sometimes need the extra height that heels give me, I’ll definitely be adding more sneakers into my collection for this fall and pairing them with everything from dresses to ripped boyfriend jeans. The New Orleans weather delays the onset of the crisp autumn weather, so instead I invest in transition pieces such as a leather tank top or a suede skirt to stay on-trend while staying cool.

I don’t have one set style and my looks can change daily from bohemian to grunge to sporty. I’ve been loving minimalist looks lately, although patterns still make the occasional appearance. I’m a strong believer in Oscar Wilde’s statement, “you can never be overdressed or overeducated,” although my style has become a bit more casual recently.

I can’t wait to show you more of the fashion here at Tulane!
